      Staying in Touch Through Neighborhood Meetings

Launched in June 2007, the Oakwood School District’s Staying in Touch Program is designed to provide community members with opportunities to talk with the Superintendent and representatives of the Board of Education about school matters in comfortable, informal settings. Residents are invited to host meetings in their homes and invite their neighbors. Meetings are scheduled for 2 hours with the following agenda:

To volunteer to host or to let us know you would like to attend a meeting, please contact Mrs. Sandy Maresh at the Board of Education Office:  297-5332 or maresh. sandy@oakwoodschools.org.

Currently, Neighborhood Meetings are being scheduled for the 2011-2012 school year.

How do I volunteer to host a Neighborhood Meeting?

If I host a meeting, what are my responsibilities? 

We will provide you with a schedule of dates and times from which to select. Once the date is scheduled, we ask that you invite your neighbors.  We will also provide you with a list of residents who have let us know they would like to attend a Neighborhood Meeting. We would love it if you could provide cookies and coffee; we will bring the nametags and the sign-in sheets.

How do I let you know I would like to attend a Neighborhood Meeting?

Mrs. Maresh will maintain a list of interested participants and provide it to host families.

How can I learn what has been discussed at the Neighborhood Meetings I do not attend?

Minutes of the meetings will be kept and a summary of topics discussed will be posted below  You are also welcome to contact the Superintendent or Board of Education Members to discuss meeting topics.
